The trial of Nayazera

Sire, news has reached me from the household of the baron of Kerrick. It seems several of Baylain's warriors ((knights of Poitain)) fought with and captured a witch in the Town of Tesso late last week. The witch Nayazera ((Esoteric Order of Dagon)) was tried and found guilty of witch craft, she awaits transportation to Tarantia for sentencing. Many residents of Poitain attended this spectacle of the trial ((Shadowstorm Supremacy)). What has shocked all in the Barons household is the death of Sir Goiyon Myrodin.

In a apparent mad rage Sir Goiyon confessed in open court to employing the witch for dark purposes in a bid to avenge himself on the governor of Tesso. After trying to escape Sir Goiyon fled under close pursuit. A fight ensured after the madmen refused to surrender and he was gravely wounded by a crossbow bolt fired by Gita an archer of kerrick. The Baron has been deeply shocked by the affair. Sir Goiyon was taken to the Kerricks temple of Mitra for medical treatment. Orders for the madman's wounds to be bound so he could stand trial for his crimes were given. Taking the law into their own hands Sir Astalos and Squire Morgath executed Sir Goiyon on the temple steps.

Whilst squire Morgath has been stripped of rank and title for his part in this mercy killing Sir Astalos Firemane has been missing for several days his fate unknown. A further twist to this sad tail must however be reported.

Baylian has received several communications from one Abi-Ka ((Abika)) self proclaimed leader of a cult of southlanders under the banner of the Esoteric Order of Dagon. This southerner demanded the release of the witch. Baylian of course refused as the witch is destined for your courts for sentencing my king.

This did not stop these foul cultists from enacting some foul ritual to poison Poitains water supply. Thirst and disease are now breaking out across that fair land. Baylian, baron of kerrick and Count Trocero of Poitain have both vowed to bring these cowardly cultist to justice and find a cure for the disease.

Hail Mordred, worthy scribe, I beg that you hear my petition to you on behalf of Initiate Nyazera, held cruelly captive by vassals of your King.

Sir, I protest that Nayazera is an innocent dupe in the schemes of this Knight, Goiyen, who died so conveniently at the hands of those he sought to betray. Can he be questioned now? Is this not convenient? Moreover, I shudder to think of the means these knights of Kerrick must have used to extract a confession from our Initiate.

Know also that I do not lead the Order of Dagon, although I hold a high rank. Our High Priest, Lord Tahril, is a reclusive and an academic, and leaves dealing with earthly matters to me. It is an honour I take seriously.

As for these vile accusations of poisoning...sir, allow me to assure you that these are without foundation! We did but perform a ceremony to our God, Dagon, whose natural element is water. How can his presence in that very self-same element offend any but those whose conscience is guilty? It is not disease, but fear that protrates these Poitians, and brings them to their sickbeds. They suffer a sickness of the soul, but this is none of our doing!

I beg you will hear my plea with your customary wisdom, and represent the matter to the King fairly and honestly.

I remain your obedient servant,
Abi-ka ((Abika))
Priestess of the Esoteric Order of Dagon
