The Rescue of the Baron of kerrick

Sire It is my pleasure to inform you that Baylian, Baron of kerrick has been rescued from his imprisonment in Stygia on Wednesday of last week. I have received a short dispatch from Sir Astalos Firemane recounting the battle. Much of the dispatch seems overly concerned with tales of Sir Astalos' personnel bravery and cunning in finding the location of the Stygian mercenaries fort ((Crimson Rose)). None the less I am able to present to you the following details extracted from Sir Astalos' bombastic account:

Through the clever use of agents and the liberal use of gold the location of the mercenaries hideout was ascertained to be hidden in the depths of the Purple Lotus swamp. Gaining intelligence that the Stygian numbers (( Crimson Rose & Shadowstorm Supremacy)) were greater than the barons household warriors Sir Astalos requested aid from the Barons allies in the north, those brave warriors from Clan Fearghal. Sir Astalos also hired several mercenary warriors ((Flaming Fist)) to aid him in the Battle.

After landing on the Stygian coast undetected Sir Astalos' force waded through the stinking mire of the Purple Lotus swamp to reach their target. The attack force had not arrived to soon for it was apparent that the foe were undertaking the building of defensive works in the form of walls and Towers around their keep.

Sir Astalos sounded the charge as the warriors from Poitain and their mercenary allies charged the Stygian defensive positions. As they battled with the Stygian forces and their foul use of evil blood magic the warriors from Clan Fearghal using all of their Cimmerian animal cunning and instincts were able to sneak past the defenders and into the keep soon putting Baylians guard to the sword.

Matters appeared grave for the cimmerians and the Baron as the foe counter attacked storming the keep under a dark cloud of evil magics. Baylian, Tyrnan and the other Clansmen were all gravely wounded in this counterattack. Sir Astalos however regrouped his forces leading the charge with the mercenary leader Sentenza . With Mitra as their ally the allied force swept the Stygian dogs aside and soon put them to the sword. The camp was fired as the wounded clansmen and the Baron were whisked away on horseback to safety.

Baylian's wounds were grave but thanks to the healing knowledge of his household priests and alchimists he is expected to make a full recovery.
